2020 Colorectal Cancer Champion of the Year Award
The Colorectal Cancer Champion of the Year Award recognizes an individual who has dedicated their time and talent to improving colorectal cancer screening. This year the award recipient is a duo: Dana Olsen and Heather Lee. These two women are an integral part of the team at Sanford 4th & Sycamore and Brandon Clinics. They teamed up with their colleagues to deploy a multi-faceted approach to improve screening rates. Pictured below is Dana Olsen, Dr. Heinemann, Heather Lee and Mike Krsnak.
2020 Innovator of the Year Award
The Innovator of the Year Award recognizes an organization that has tested a new idea for colorectal cancer screening improvement. The recipient of the 2020 Innovator of the Year Award is Falls Community Health. Falls identified a financial barrier for many of their uninsured patients who needed follow-up colonoscopy after positive FIT results. They developed an idea to start a 5k fundraising event called, "The Blue Move" to not only utilize the color blue for Colorectal Cancer, but also an emphasis on BM for stool sample screening. In 2018, the first Blue Move had 93 participants and raised over $3,000. In 2019, the event had 113 participants and raised over $3,500. 2020 Organization of the Year Award
The Organization of the Year Award recognizes an organization that has prioritized colorectal cancer screening and advanced colorectal cancer screening initiatives. Sanford Health Canton and Beresford Clinics have been recognized as the 2020 Organization of the Year. The clinics have focused efforts to educate the public on colorectal cancer prevention.

2019 Colorectal Cancer Champion of the Year Award
The Colorectal Cancer Champion of the Year Award recognizes an individual who has dedicated their time and talent to improving colorectal cancer screening. Vicki Bauer was recognized as the 2019 Colorectal Cancer Champion of the Year. The Innovator of the Year Award recognizes an organization that has tested a new idea for colorectal cancer screening improvement and has reason to believe that their innovation will lead to greater success. The recipient of the 2019 Innovator of the Year Award is Sanford Health Watertown Clinic, pictured below receiving their award from Brooke Lusk, Health and Human Services Division Director at Black Hills Special Services Cooperative.
2019 Organization of the Year Award
The Organization of the Year Award recognizes an organization that has prioritized colorectal cancer screening and advanced colorectal cancer screening initiatives. Avera Cancer Institute Navigation Center has been recognized as the 2019 Organization of the Year.

2018 SD Cancer Coalition Champion Award
The SD Cancer Coalition Champion of the Year Award recognizes a coalition member that goes above and beyond the call of duty to advance projects consistent with priorities of the SD Cancer Plan. The 2018 SD Cancer Coalition Champion Award was given to Andi Litton, Chief Operating Officer at Rapid City Medical Center Gastroenterology.
